Our Venetian Gem.

A beautiful prospect.
Finally, we would like to tell you a little about the island of Santa Maria delle Grazie, one of Venice’s most treasured jewels. Just ten minutes by river taxi to Saint Mark’s Square, 15 minutes to the Venice Lido private airport and 40 minutes to Marco Polo International Airport, Santa Maria delle Grazie is an idyllic place to relax and perfectly situated for visiting Venice, the Lido and the surrounding islands.

A fairy-tale story.
As legend has it, the island was given its name after sailors returned from Constantinople with an effigy of the Virgin Mary, purported to have been painted by Luke the Evangelist. The sailors claimed to have seen a vision, in which God bade them to leave the effigy on the island, after which various religious orders came to settle there. In 1810, Napoleon evicted the island’s nuns and used the island as a military repository. The island then served as a hospital until the twentieth century, when it was closed down and left derelict.

STOFANEL is planning a development which will bring new life to the island while incorporating and respecting its unique landscape, architecture and history.
Arrivederci a Venezia!
