Life is a constant search and discovering something in life is a wonderful thing. Giovanna Stefanel and Ludwig Maximilian Stoffel not only discovered each other, they discovered that they share a common vision: a vision for a new style of contemporary living that fuses ecological and cultural sensitivity with the highest standards of comfort, quality and service. She, a key member of the well-known Italian fashion house Stefanel, and he, a Bavarian property entrepreneur, have achieved their ambition of creating the Stofanel property venture together, by partnering the strengths of their unique cultures and career experiences: by fusing Italian creativity with German quality.
Fashion and architecture have a lot in common. They are two flowers growing from the same root. “It’s all about proportion and rhythm. Both of these can convert materials, forms and colours into living compositions. This can be done with clothes as well as structures, if you do it properly.” These are the words of the former art director Giovanna who designed fashion for three decades with her father, the founder of the Stefanel fashion house, and her brother Giuseppe. They managed what started out as a small family firm in Ponte di Piave, in northeastern Italy. Today Stefanel is one of the major names in international fashion. Giovanna Stefanel-Stoffel is on the Board of Directors and a Stefanel shareholder. However, now she also has shares in Germany: her husband, Ludwig Maximilian Stoffel, and the Stofanel offices on Pariser Platz in Berlin. As Creative Director at Stofanel, Giovanna is responsible for designing the accommodation and living spaces for the many planned projects worldwide. The result is a logic of form, style and originality of world-class quality.
The Stoffel family also has a tradition of entrepreneurship. Grandfather Stoffel began selling flour products at his first shop on 1905. His son turned this shop into a flourishing wholesale grocery business. Ludwig Stoffel assumed control of the business when he was 24 – transformed it into a supermarket chain and sold it after the successful expansion. He left to wander around the world for five years, armed with his backpack and a thirst for adventure. The experiences he gained from this exciting period left a great impression on him. Ludwig Maximilian Stoffel decided to put his creativity and energy into real estate. His aim has been to find the right balance between houses that are open to external spaces while offering a blend of security. Working with these kinds of architectural ideas, Stoffel brought to life the essence of the experiences he had collected during his travels around the world. His sporting interests and his interest in nature have been combined with his business and philosophical outlook. Home and freedom, community and individuality are not contradictions as far as he is concerned; they are elements in life that have equal significance but merely bear different names - all of these elements are essential to the Stofanel developments.
The Family Stoffel Foundation was founded out of a love for humanity and a respect for people in need. Mr. and Mrs. Stoffel are “Mama” and “Papa” to 30 Nepalese orphans. They personally tend to the children, spending several weeks a year in Nepal and keeping in touch long distance through daily e-mails. By creating a loving, supportive family atmosphere, Mr. and Mrs. Stoffel hope to ensure that each of their children have the opportunity for a brilliant future.
